Arunachal Pradesh remained isolated from India, for centuries due to impregnable forests, and unbridgeable rivers. The state is home to 26 main tribal strains. Each has a distinct identity, of language, culture, and beliefs. Most worship supernatural sprits, and their deities are connected to nature. This region is endowed with natures bounty, ranging from subtropical river valleys to high Himalayan pastures, over 4500 meters in elevation, fringed by snow caps bordering Tibet. Arunachal offers a feast of flora, wildlife, and a variety of tribal cultures, including the Buddhist Monpa, and Sherdukpen tribals, of Tawang. Arunachal Pradesh is reached only by driving for a full day from Guwahati.
Arunachal Pradesh is a restricted area. Certain tourist circuits are open to foreign tourists for 10 days at a time, after obtaining a Restricted Area Permit (RAP).
Contact us 06 weeks in advance so that we can send you permit application form, and obtain the permit for you. The Arunachal Pradesh government charges a Royalty of USD 50 per person.
Arunachal is being gradually opened up for tourists. We operate two travel circuits. The Tawang circuit and the Subansiri - Siang river tribal circuit.

It is over 350 years old, and is the fountainhead of the spiritual life for the followers of the Gelupa Sect of the Mahayana School of Buddhism, which is followed by the Monpa, and Sherdukpen tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. It is an awe-inspiring sight. Surrounded by lofty peaks of over 4000 Meters in elevation, it is built like a fortress and can house over 500 monks. The surrounding Tawang Chhu Valley is a virtual Shangri-La, of lush forests, smiling vales, gurgling streams, picture post card villages and a lovely, smiling people, surrounded by high mountain barriers above 4000 meters. This is a rare opportunity to explore the Buddhist lifestyles of the unique and remote Himalayan tribal culture of the Monpas. You get to see the various monasteries, Monpa villages and the breathtaking vistas of Himalayan uplands.
