14 Days Nature & Culture Trek Tour : The Trail of the Monpa Yak herdsmen
Includes Wildlife Safari at Kaziranga National Park
Itinerary: Version 02 & 03
Day 01: Fly to Guwahati and drive to Tezprur
Fly Kolkota / Delhi to Guwahati. Arrive mid day. Transfer by car Guwahati to Tezpur. in 3.30 hrs. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Drive Tezpur to Dirang, 1600 m
Drive to Dirang Valley, 06 hrs, Overnight at Hotel in Dirang
Day 03: Dirang Valley sightseeing
Cultural tour: Ancient Monpa Village and Gompa, scenic Sangti Valley. Farmlands and more Overnight at your hotel.
Day 04: Drive cum trek Dirang to Mandala camp, 3500 m.
Drive 02 hrs along a newly constructed road to Mandala road junction. Trek for 04 hrs along an undulating ridge line passing through forests and meadow to our camp 1 at 3500 m. Overnight in camp.
Day 05: Trek Mandala camp to Naga GG (Grazing ground), 4000 m
Get up early to view the snow covered 5000 m high Sela Ridge and the 7000 meters high Kangdo Range.
Trek for 4-5 hrs to Naga GG, 4000 m along a fairly easy trail through forests and meadows. Overnight in camp 2, at Naga GG.
Day 06: Trek Naga GG to Schumshuk, 4100 m,
Trek for 06 hrs along an undulating ridge along tree line forests to the Indo- Bhutan Border, 4100 m, On the west , good views of the, valleys in Bhutan, Toward the North close lies the Sela Ridge. Rising to 4900m In an North Easterly direction view the India -Tibet border ridges dominated by the Gorichen Peak, 7600 m. – The highest peak of the Eastern Himalayas. Overnight in camp 3.
Day 07: Trek Schumshuk to Shivigang, 4200 m.
A long 07 hrs trek along the undulating ridge line close to the Indo -Bhutan border, gaining some elevation but remaining below 4200 m. Traverse through grazing meadows with thinning trees. Overnight in camp 4 at Shivigang.
Day 08: Trek Shivgang to Bankhajang Gompa, 4900 m,
Get set for 06 hours of fairly steep climbing up to 4900 m to attain the Sela ridge, arriving at the isolated Buddhist temple –Bankhajung Temple. It is a place of pilgrimage for both the Indian and the Bhutanese. The majestic surroundings are covered with alpine flora of Rhododendron and Juniper. In the surrounding area, there are more than 100 Alpine lakes. Overnight in camp 5.
