Fly from Delhi to Leh. 04 days Buddhist sightseeing tour around Leh followed by 09 days wilderness trek from Indus valley to the Rupshu crossing over the Kongmaru la, 5500 m and  Zalung Karpo la, 5200 m. Traverse the ancient trade routes; which ascend and descend over high passes between Ladakh and Zanskar. Spectacular wilderness - towering jagged peaks, gorges and river valleys splashed with rolling pastures amidst rugged landscape. Breathtaking views of the Ladakh Range, the Zanskar Range, the Stok Kangri Ridge, the Rupshu Plateau, and the Kharnak River valley. Return to Leh by jeep traversing More plains, 4700 m and Tanglang la, 5360 m for a 02 nights stay before flying back to Delhi.

Day 01: Arrive Leh, 3506 m

Early morning flight from Delhi to Leh. Transfer to hotel and rest for the day.  

Day 02: Leh Sightseeing

Walking to  Shanti Stupa,  and Leh bazaar. Overnight at hotel. 

Day 03: Leh –Shey, Stok, and Thiksey

Day trip by jeep visiting Shey Monastery, Stok Gompa , museum, and Thiksey Monastery. Overnight at hotel in Leh

Day 04: Leh – Hemis - Shang sumdo, 3880 m

Drive to  Hemis Monastery and Stakna Gompa. Therafter drive to, Shang Sumdo . Overnight in camp

Day 04: Trek Shang Sumdo, 3880 - Chikirmo 4070m

Easy 03 hrs trek to Chikirmo, along the river valley. Camp at 4070 m

Day 05: Trek Chikirmo - High Camp, 4400m

04 hrs to climb slowly to stay at the base camp below Kongmaru la pass. Good chance of sighting Blue Sheep, and sometimes, Ibex.

Day 06: Trek High Camp, 4400 – Kongmaru la, 5500 m- Nimaling, 4720 m

Trek 04-05 hrs. First a steep climb to Kongmaru la, 5200m. Panoramic view  of Kang Yaze, 6400m, and Zanskar Range.  Descend to the lovely high altitude pastures of Nimaling . Overnight in camp.

Day 07 - Nimaling 4720m

A day for rest, and further acclimatization. Relax or explore the marmot-infested Nimaling  plain and visit the yak and goat herders. Overnight in camp.

Day 08: Trek Nimaling, 4720 m  -  Konka Ngonpo pass, 5090 -Tikyu pastures, 4800m.

07-08 hrs trek. The trail takes us over a spur of the Kang Yaze to begin the climb to the 5090m high Konka Ngonpo pass, followed by a steep drop to some high grazing areas, followed by a gentler descent to the valley of the Langthang Chu and pastures of Tikyu. Involves river crossings.

Day 09:Trek Tikyu, 4800m – Zalung Karpo la, 5200 m – Sora 4200 m.

06 hrs trek. A fairly steep climb to the top of the Zalung  Karpo la, 5200 m. Stunning views of the gorges and crags of Zanskar. Steep drop into the valley below.  Overnight in camp.

Day 10: Trek Sora, 4200 m – Datt, 4270 m

06 hrs trek through a narrow wooded Kharnak Chu Valley with clear streams, and sheer cliffs all around. Continue to Dat through wide meadows. Overnight in camp.

Day 11: Trek Dat - Yar La (4950 m) - Lungmo Che (4010 m)

06 hrs trek through high altitude dessert.  Moderate climb to the Yar La, 4950m. Panoramic views of the Rupshu. Likely to spot herd of  Khyangs - Wild Asses. walk down to the pleasant meadow outside the summer village of Lungmoche. Overnight in camp.

Day 12: Trek Lungmo Che, 4010 - Sangtha (4200 m) in 3 h and drive to Leh

Short gentle climb to Sangtha, 4200 m to meet our jeeps. Drive 174 Kms over the Tanglang la, 5360 m – the highest pass on the Manali – Leh Highway. We will first travel for 50 Kms along the 4700 m high More Plateau, encircled by rolling hills. This is the domain of nomadic herdsmen. Thereafter traveling over the Tanglang la we descend into the Indus Valley at an elevation of 3384 m, to reach Leh. Overnight in hotel

Day 13: Leh

A day to relax and explore Leh on your own. Overnight in hotel

Day 14: Leh-Delhi

In the morning transfer to airport to board your flight to Delhi.
