Fly from Delhi to Leh. 04 days Buddhist sightseeing tour around Leh and Lamayuru, followed by 10 days Nature and culture trek traversing through picture postcard villages and wilderness. Spectacular views of Stok Kangri ,6132 m and Kang Yatse, 6400 m, high mountain pastures, and river gorges. Drive back to Leh after visiting Hemis. Fly out of Leh to Delhi.
Day 01: Arrive Leh, 3506 m
Early morning flight from Delhi to Leh. Transfer to hotel and rest for the day.
Day 02: Leh Sightseeing
Walking trip to Shanti Stupa, and Leh bazaar. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Leh – Monastery tour
Day trip by jeep visiting Shey Monastery, Stok Gompa , museum, and Thiksey Monastery. Overnight at hotel in Leh
Day 04: Leh – Lamayuru, 3390 m
Drive Leh to Lamayuru . 125 Kms in 07 hrs. Enroute visit Likir and Alchi monasteries. Upon arrival visit the Lamayuru Gompa – the most famous and spectacularly set Gompa in Ladakh; it dates back to the 10 the century. Overnight in camp.
Day 05: Trek Lamayuru, 3390 m – Pringkiti la 3700m- Wanla
Trek for 04-05 hrs over Pringkiti La, 3700m. Spectacular view of Zanskar Mountains. Steep descend to Shilla Village through narrow gorge, to camp at Wanla – a picture post card village. Overnight in Camp.
Day 06: Trek Wanla - Hinju
Trek 05-06 hours, through narrow gorges to camp at Hinju Village.
Day 07: Trek Hinju – Konzke la, 4950 m to Sumda Chenmo
Trek for 05-06 hrs steep climb over Kungski La, 4950m. Commanding views of Karakoram Range. Short descent through pastures along Sumda Chhu stream, to camp overnight at Sumda Chenmo.
Day 08: Trek Sumda Chenmo – Base of Dungdungchen La
Trek 03-04 hrs along the Sumda Chhu, to ascend through pastures to camp at the base of Dundungchen la.
Day 09: Trek Dundunchan La base – Dundunchan La, 4700 m- Chiling.
Trek 05-06 hours. Climb up to Dungdunchen La, 4700m, for spectacular views of Zanskar Range, and birds eye view of Zanskar River. Long descent to Chilling village on the banks of the Zanskar River. Chilling village is famous for metal craft.
Day 10: Trek Chiling – Skyu, 3300 m
4-5 hours. We will cross the Zanskar River on a hand pulled cable trolley, with your baggage as ponies cannot cross the river. Another pack train will be waiting for us on the other side. Trek to Skyu via Kaya.
Day 11: Trek Skiu, 3300 m - Markha, 3710 m.
Trek for 07 hrs along a trail which follows a well graded alignment with slight gain in elevation. It will be hot in the valley although the walking is easy. Towering prominently above and ahead is the spectacular massif of Kang Yatse Peak, 6400m.
Camp close to the picture post card Markha village, and spend the evening exploring the village and Gompa.
Day 12: Trek Markha - Thachungtse pasture, 3900 m
Trek for 05-06 hours along a river-bed trail ascending up the valley. It is a mellow walk, gaining elevation slowly with the high walls of the Markha valley above us. There are some stream crossings. We walk past the Umlung Monastery, and Hankar Village. The peak of Kang Yurze, 6400 m, rears its head towards the South. Overnight in camp at Thachungtse pasture.
Day 13: Trek Thachungtse, 3900 m - Nimaling, 4700m
Trek 04-05 hours. A nice walk with great views of Kang Yatse. Climb in series of ascents to reach the high altitude pastures of Nimaling - This wide valley is one of the most beautiful high altitude plains in the Himalaya. dominated by the Kang Yatse peak. Overnight in camp.
Day 14: Trek Nimaling - Kongmaru la, 5150 m - Shang Sumdo, 3880 m
Trek for 08 hrs. A long climb to he Kongmaru La, 5150 m. This the highest pass on this trek . Spectacular panoramic views of the Kang Yatse and Zanskar Ranges. Steep and long descent through gorges to the lovely camp site at Shang Sumdo. Overnight in camp. TREK ENDS
Day 15: Shang Sumdo – Hemis - Leh
Drive to visit Hemis monastery. Thereafter continue drive to Leh. Overnight at hotel
Day 16: Leh- Delhi
Transfer to airport to board flight to Delhi.
