19 Days Royal Rajasthan - All of Rajasthan and the Taj Mahal

Day 1: New Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Reception at airport and transfer to the hotel or guest house. Overnight at hotel.or guest house
Day 2: New Delhi
Morning: combined sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi. In Old Delhi visit Red Fort, Jama Masjid, drive past Chandni Chowk, visit Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. In New Delhi, visit Qutab Minar - 234 feet high tower, nearby stands the iron pillar, the Tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun, Bhai Temple, the modern Birla Temple. Drive past India Gate (War Memorial), President's House, which was once the Viceroy's Palace, Parliament House and Secretarial buildings. Afternoon free for shopping. Overnight at hotel or guest house.
Day 3: Delhi – Mandwa ( Shekhawati Region in Rajasthan)
After breakfast drive 250 kms to Mandwa, in the heart of the shekawati region – the open air art gallery of Rajasthan. On the way look at the frescoes at Baggar. Check in at Castle Mandwa an 18 th century fort in time for lunch. The afternoon is just to stroll through the town soaking in the ambience of Medieval Rajasthan. Day 4 : Mandawa: Explore Shekhawati region - Mukandgarh, Dundlod & Nawalgarh
Today we drive around the small town ships of the Shekhawati region to see the Frescoed Havelis and to experience the local lifestyle in a semi arid desert region Options of Camel safari..In the evening we check in at the Desert resort - a Rajasthani desert village created with modern facilities to experience local rural lifestyle.
Day 5: Mandwa – Bikaner
The princely state of Bikaner was founded in 1488 AD and is located in the northern reaches of the Thar Desert. It lies on the Ancient Caravan route to Central Asia. The town retains its medieval splendor with magnificent palaces and impregnable forts. We will drive 210 Kms through the Thar desert – a panorama of sand dunes to check in at the Lal Garh Palace, residence of the erstwhile ruler of Bikaner, now a heritage hotel. In the aftgernoon take a tour of Junagarh fort, camel breeding farm and the famous rat temple of Karni Mata. Overnight at Lal Garh Palace.
Day 6: Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Drive 330 kms into the heart of the Thar Desert to Jaisalmer. The golden city of Jaisalmer was founded in 1156 A.D. Perched atop the Trikuta Hill, the Fort glitters in the sunlight. Arriving at Jaisalmer we will check into the Hotel Rawalkot – replicating Jaisalmer’s “Haveli “ architecture.In the evening drive to the Sam Sand dunes for a short camel safari and also to view the awesome beauty of sunset in the desert. Night halt at Hotel Rawalkot.
Day 7: Jaisalmer Visit to the exquisitely sculpted Havelies of Jaisalmer followed by a visit to the world's oldest living fort- 'The “Golden Fort” or : "Sonar Qila”. Afternoon free to explore Jaisalmer on your own. Night halt at Hotel Rawalkot.
Day 8: Jaisalmer - Khimsar
Drive 200 kms through the desert to the 18 th Century Khimsar Fort – one of the best Heritage hotels in Rajasthan. On the way we will visit the medivial Jain and Hindu temples at Osiyan. Night halt in the eighteenth century Khimsar Fort.
Day 09: Khimsar-Jodhpur – Rohetgarh with sightseeing at Jodhpur
Today we travel 95 kms to Jodhpur on the eastern fringe of the Thar Desert We will spend the day sightseeing at Jodhpur, which . was founded in 1459 A.D and became the capital of erstwhile Marwar State.
Tour the 15th century majestic Mehrangarh Fort – One of the most formidable, in fort studded Rajasthan. It has an interesting museum and decorated palace apartments besides a lot more. Latter visit the immense Umed Bhawan Palace museum, and the the royal cenotaphs at Jaswant Thada.
Driving 40 Kms south, we check in for the night at the 18 th Century Castle hotel called Rohetgarh, Much favoured for its atmosphere, it was here that Bruce Chatwin wrote “The Song lines” and William Dalrymple began “City of Djinns”. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Rohetgarh

Today we take an interesting local tour to peep into the lifestyle of the people. Meet people at home and at work. Interact with various communities living in the area and to share and understand their world.. Meet the Bhishnois, protectors of nature for five centuries and arguably the world's first ecologists, responsible for the survival of species such as the black-buck antelope. The semi-nomadic "Raika" shepherds of Marwar whose brilliant crimson and marigold costumes would put modern designers to shame, as also the "Paliwals" and the "Meghwals"- the farmers and weavers You also get a chance to witness traditional folk ceremonies signifying friendship and brotherhood and see village artisans at work creating leather articles, pottery and woven handicrafts
Day 11: Rohet – Ranakpur – Kumbhalgarh
Drive 130 kms to Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur to visit the massive 15th century fort – Kumbalgarh fort, perched at 1100 meters up on the Aravali Range. Its walls are 36 kms long, and enclose many palaces, temples and gardens. The Jain temples at Ranakpur date back to 1439. The superbly crafted marble, Chaumukha temple has 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars – no two are alike. Night halt at Aodhi - The atmospheric hunting lodge of the Udaipur princely family.
Day 12: Kumbalgarh - Udhaipur
Driving 84 kms we reach Udhaipur - TheLake City of Rajasthan. It is one of the most romantic cities of India. It abounds in tales of bravery, romance and sacrifice.It was founded in 1559 AD, and is the home to the Mewar princely family of Rajasthan.
We will visit the Lake Palace, City Palace, Sahelion ki Bari, Puppet museum and the Lalit kala Akademi. Night halt at Karni Fort - An eighteenth century fort now converted into a heritage hotel.
Day 13: Udhaipur – Deogarh
Drive 135 kms to Deogarh Palce, built in 1670 AD.. The palace Castle, stands atop a hill at an elevation of 2100 feet, and offers a commanding view of the Aravalli mountain range and the numerous lakes, strewn across the countryside. With its graying battlements, domes, turrets, " jharokhas" and huge gateways, it is a picturesque sight Explore the five floors and over 200 rooms, numerous balconies with carved pillars in marble. There are some exciting rooms to explore - "Sheesh Mahal" - the colourful hall of mirrors, is just one of them!
Deogarh is also renowned as a school of miniature painting. Several rooms are decorated with murals done by local painters after whom the Deogarh School of painting has acquired fame the world over.
Our stay here tonight is just to enjoy the anbiance. But you can also explore the surrounding areas in jeeps, take a horse ride or even a local train ride to explore the rurul areas.
Day 14: Deogarh- Jaipur
Drive 280 Kms to Jaipur and check in at your hotel Afternoon city sightseeing, visiting the Maharaja's City Palace which now houses a museum containing rare manuscripts, fine specimens of Rajput and Mughal paintings and weapons. "Jantar Mantar" the Observatory, and drive past Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds and through the pink-rose residential and business areas. Overnight at hotel
Day 15: Jaipur
Morning excursion to Amber Fort. You ride up to the ramp of this 11th Century Bastion atop a gaily-decorated elephant. Afternoon free for shopping.
Jaipur is a major gems and jewlery centre. You can also shop for blue pottery, woolen carpets, cotton rugs, hand-block printed "Sanganeri" and cotton fabrics and dresses. Overnight at hotel.
Day16: Jaipur - Samode
Drive to Samode Palace heritage hotel, which nestles picturesquely amid the rugged countryside. Afternoon explore the Palace, take a walk through Samode village or just relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 17: Samode-Agra
Drive to Agra. Enroute visit the famed bird sanctuary at Bharatpur and Fatehpur Sikri -a cultural and imperial capital conceived and built by Emperor Akbar. Continue your journey to Agra. Arrive and check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 18: Agra
Morning visit the world famous Taj Mahal built by Emperor Shahjahan for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Also visit Agra Fort, an impressive cluster of palaces, fortresses and mosques, on the banks of river Yamnua across Taj Mahal. Visit the Shilp Gram - a Crafts and Performing Art Centre. Afternoon free for shopping. Agre is famous for its special kind of marble inlay work executed on trinket and other sourvenirs. Overnight at hotel.
Day 19: New Delhi
Drive to Delhi. Arrive and check in at hotel/ guest house, or transfer to airport for flight to next destination. TOUR ENDS.
Day 20: New Delhi
In time for your departure transfer to the airport to board flight for onward destination.
