Temples & Tigers


Featuring Sariska National Park, Palaces and forts of Jaipur & Samode, Bharatpur bird Sanctuary, Taj Mahal, erotic temples of Khahuraho and the ghats and temples of Varanasi
 

Day 1: New Delhi  

Arrive Delhi. Reception at airport and transfer to the hotel or guest house. Overnight at hotel.or guest house  

Day 2: New Delhi  

New Delhi Red Fort Morning: combined sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi. In Old Delhi visit Red Fort, Jama Masjid, drive past Chandni Chowk, visit Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. In New Delhi, visit Qutab Minar - 234 feet high tower, nearby stands the iron pillar, the Tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun, Bhai Temple, the modern Birla Temple. Drive past India Gate (War Memorial), President's House, which was once the Viceroy's Palace, Parliament House and Secretarial buildings. Afternoon free for shopping. Overnight at hotel or guest house. 

Day 03: Delhi-Sariska  

Sariska Palace Drive to Sariska, in 3 hrs. Upon check in at Sariska Palce hotel built as a hunting lodge at the close of the 19th century by the Maharaja of Alwar. Located in a thickly wooded valley on the threshold of what is now the Sariska national park, it offers a rare combination of architectural grandeur, luxury, and natural surroundings. The guest rooms are air conditioned, tastefully furnished with original Regency Victorian furniture. 

Sariska Tiger Sariska, National Park is located on hilly terrain. It has total area of 788 sq. kilometres, with a core area of approximately 474 sq. kilometres. The beautiful Siliserh Lake runs along the edge of the reserve. It is home to the tiger, panther, jungle cat, sambar, chital, wild boar, hare, nilgai and umpteen porcupines. The birdlife comprises of the pea fowl, gray partridge, quail, sand grouse, tree pie, white breasted kingfisher, golden - backed woodpecker, crested serpent eagle and great Indian horned owl.

In the evening safari in the Park. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 04: Sariska-Amber- Samode:  

Morning another safari in the park. Thereafter drive to Samode Palace. On the way take an excursion to Amber Fort. You ride up to the ramp of this 11th Century Bastion atop a gaily-decorated elephant. Continue to Samode Palace heritage hotel, which nestles picturesquely amid the rugged countryside. Afternoon explore the Palace, take a walk through Samode village or just relax and soak in this special ambiance.. Overnight at the hotel.


Day 05: Samode-Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur. City sightseeing, visiting the Maharaja's City Palace which now houses a museum containing rare manuscripts, fine specimens of Rajput and Mughal paintings and weapons. "Jantar Mantar" he Observatory, and drive past Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds and through the pink-rose residential and business areas. Check in at your hotel for lunch. After lunch free for shopping. Jaipur is a major gems and jewlery centre. You can also shop for blue pottery, woolen carpets, cotton rugs, hand-block printed "Sanganeri" ,cotton fabrics and dresses. Overnight at hotel  

Day 06: Drive to Bharatpur

Birding Pelicans Check in at the hotel. In the evening take a bird watching trip by cycle rickshaw at the world famous bird watchers paradise - The Keoladeo Ghana National Park, teeming with 376 species of birds. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Bharatpur- Agra

Morning Bird watching by Cycle Rickshaw. Thereafter drive to Agra in 2 hrs. On the way visit Fethepur Sikri the deserted city. Check in at hotel for lunch. Afternoon visit the incomparable Taj Mahal. Latter visit the Agra Fort, an impressive cluster of palaces, fortresses and mosques. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Agra-Khajuraho

Temple Erotica 1Temple Erotica 2 Morning visit marble workshops for shopping. Latter board afternoon flight to Khajuraho. Transfer to hotel. 

Latter tour Southern group of Chandela temples. Day 09: Khajuraho- Varanasi

Varanasi Ghats Morning tour of Eastern group of temples. Later board afternoon flight to Varanasi. Transfer to hotel . 

One of the oldest living cities in the world, Varanasi “ the eternal city” is perhaps the most important and holy place for the Hindus. Glorified by myth and legend and sanctified by religion, it is the most favored place for Hindus to die and be cremated. Countless hymns and myths speak of the waters of the Ganges as the fluid medium of Shiva's divine essence, and a bath in the river is believed to wash away all of one's sins It is a indeed a unique city where past and present, eternity and continuity live side by side.

In the evening we take a boat ride in the Ganges to view the "ghats". Stay overnight at hotel.


Day 10: Varanasi - Delhi

Morning half day city tour of temples and Sarnath. Post lunch flight to Delhi. Transfer to hotel or guest room. or to airport for next destination. TOUR ENDS
