S/ 04: Jeep Tour 03 Days North Sikkim Escapade

Escape to the pristine charms of North Sikkim. Travel by jeep to the quaint village of Lachung and drive through Yumthang Valley - the vale of Rhododendrons up to altitude of 4200 m. Forests, snows, meadows with grazing yaks, cascading glacial rivers, waterfalls, Budhist Gompas, Lachungpa tribals and more. Special entry permits required. Will be arranged by us.
Day 01: Gangtok- Lachung ( North Sikkim)
Drive 121 Kms in 6 hrs to Lachung, located at an altitude of 3000m. On the way visit the Kabi Longchok - is the spot where the Lepcha chieftain Thekung Tek and the Tibetan Kham king Khye Bumsa signed a treaty of blood brotherhood in the 15th century, paving the way for the Bhutias to settle peacefully in Sikkim. A circle of nine stones; erected by Thekung Tek, stand as witness to the pact. The road is rough in parts, with scenic views, forests, terraced cultivation, neat villages and waterfalls. The quant village of Lachung can be described as Alpine in a Buddhist setting with a sprinkling on concrete. Overnight at hotel. (Marco Polo resort, Blue Sky’s Le Coxy resort, the Aku resort and the Everest hotel; depending upon availability)
Day 02: Lachung – Yumthang Valley – Lachung
Drive 24 Kms to Yumthang at an altitude of 4200 m. The valley is couched between snow-capped mountains on one hand, green hills on the other. The sound of the rushing Yumthang Chhu, fed by glaciers accompanies you through the day. This is natures playground – a fascinating blend of breathtaking rugged Himalayan upland, hot springs, yak meadows, and a Rhododendrom sanctuary with 24 species. ( Blooms in Apr-May). The valley is rich in ground flora –Potentillas, Gentians, Saxifrages, Poppies, and Aconites. On view are Silver Fir, Spruce, Larch, Juniper, Maple . Trees are festooned with trailing lichens. There is a carpet of moss protecting the ground from the severe winters. The sanctuary has amongst others; Goral, Serow, Blue Sheep, Red Panda, Himalayan Black Bear, Weasals, Martens, Common Langur, and Musk deer. Some of the most sought after birds are found here – Blood Pheasant, Monal, Satyr Tragopan, snow partridge, snow pigeon, Choughs, Rose finches, snow finches. Migratory birds such as Ibisbill, ducks and waders are also seen. Angling for Brown trout is permitted with permission. Return to Lachung for a visit to the Lachung monastery, one of the oldest in Sikkim, founded in 1800 AD. Overnight at hotel..
Day 03: Lachung – Gangtok
Drive back early to Gangtok in 6-7 hrs. Weather permitting view Khangchendzonga from Singhik, and visit Phodong and Labrang Monasteries. Tour ends after arrival at your hotel in Gangtok.
